Ampazis Nikolaos

Dr. Nikolaos Ampazis holds a BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London, an MSc with Distinction in Information Processing and Neural Networks from the Department of Mathematics at King's College, University of London, and a PhD with Distinction from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. During his doctoral studies, he was a scholar at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of NCSR Demokritos.

Dr. Ampazis has been a faculty member of the Department since September 2005. He first served as a tenure-track Assistant Professor and subsequently as a tenured Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor. He served as Deputy Head of the Department during the academic years 2018-2020  and as Head of the Department during the academic years 2020-2022.

His research interests focus on the theoretical study of neural network training algorithms and machine learning, as well as their applications in data mining, recommender systems, information retrieval, natural language processing, and large language models. He has published more than 70 papers in international scientific journals and conferences and has participated in numerous research projects.
