Ampazis Nikolaos

Nicholas Ampazis holds a BEng (Hons) degree in Electrical and Elecronic Engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Imperial College London, a MSc degree (with distinction) in Information Processing and Neural Networks from the Department of Mathematics, King’s College London, and a PhD degree (with distinction) from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). During his graduate studies leading to the doctorate Dr. Ampazis was a scholar at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications, National Center for Scienftic Research “Demokritos”. In September 2005 he was appointed as Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Department Financial and Management Engineering, University of the Aegean, and in June 2009 received tenure for this position. In September 2014 Dr. Ampazis was elected as Associate Professor of Computer Science at the same department. During the academic period 2018-2020 he was Deputy Head of the Department and for the academic period 2020-2022 he is the Head of the Department.

His research interests include the theoretical study of computational intelligence and machine learning algorithms and their application in data mining, recommender systems, information retrieval, natural language processing, production systems, supply chain management and diagnostic medicine.
