Βιογραφικό
Ο κ. Νικόλαος Αλεξόπουλος απεφοίτησε από το Τμήμα Μηχανολόγων Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας το 1998. Στη συνέχεια ολοκλήρωσε με επιτυχία το ετήσιο μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα European Laser Engineer του Τεχνικού Πανεπιστημίου Βιέννης. Αναγορεύτηκε σε Διδάκτορα του Τμήματος Μηχανολόγων Μηχανικών και Αεροναυπηγών του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών το 2004. Η διδακτορική του έρευνα περιελάμβανε την ανάπτυξη μεθοδολογίας για την αξιολόγηση χυτών κραμάτων αλουμινίου για αεροναυπηγικές εφαρμογές. Κατά την περιόδο των διδακτορικών του σπουδών την περίοδο 1999-2002 έλαβε υποτροφία από τη Γενική Γραμματεία Έρευνας και Τεχνολογίας του Υπουργίου Ανάπτυξης στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος ΥΠΕΡ. Διεξήγαγε (2005-2007) μεταδιδακτορική έρευνα στο Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο σχετικά με την υποβάθμιση της δομικής ακεραιότητας αεροπορικών υλικών και κατασκευαστικών στοιχείων λόγω διάβρωσης με υποτροφία του Ιδρύματος Κρατικών Υποτροφιών (Ι.Κ.Υ.). Από το 2007 έως το 2010 υπήρξε επιστημονικός συνεργάτης του Τμήματος Έρευνας και Ανάπτυξης της Ελληνικής Αεροπορικής Βιομηχανίας (ΕΑΒ) και συμμετείχε σε Εθνικά και Ευρωπαϊκά ανταγωνιστικά ερευνητικά προγράμματα. Από το 2006 έως και το 2014 δίδασκε στο Τμήμα Μηχανικών Οικονομίας και Διοίκησης (ΤΜΟΔ) του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου ως Επισκέπτης Καθηγητής Π.Δ. 407/80. Το 2014 διορίστηκε ως Λέκτορας στο ΤΜΟΔ όπου και συνεχίζει να υπηρετεί ως Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής από τον Απρίλιο του 2021.
Έχει δημοσιεύσει παραπάνω από 50 άρθρα σε επιστημονικά έγκριτα περιοδικά με Hirsch-index = 19 (Ιούνιος 2021) καθώς και έχει παρουσιάσει παραπάνω από 100 άρθρα σε Εθνικά και Διεθνή επιστημονικά συνέδρια. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε παραπάνω από 20 Εθνικά και Ευρωπαϊκά ερευνητικά προγράμματα. Τον Μαϊο και τον Ιούλιο του 2018 εκλέχθηκε ως μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της Ελληνικής Εταιρείας Πειραματικής Μηχανικής των Υλικών (ΕΕΠΜΥ) και της EURopean ASsociation for Experimental Mechanics (EURASEM), αντίστοιχα.

Η ερευνητική δραστηριότητα του Ν. Αλεξόπουλου εστιάζεται κυρίως στον τομέα της μηχανικής συμπεριφοράς τεχνολογικών υλικών, στην πειραματική μηχανική των θραύσεων, στην επιλογή υλικών για αεροναυπηγικές δομές, στην χύτευση κραμάτων αλουμινίου, στη διάβρωση κραμάτων αλουμινίου και χαλύβδιων ράβδων σιδηροπλισμού, στην νανοτεχνολογία και την πειραματική μηχανική συνθέτων υλικών.
