Prof. Agapios N. Platis is in the Department of Financial and Management Engineering of the University of the Aegean from 2005 (from Assistant Professor to Full Professor). Formerly, he was Lecturer in the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering of the University of the Aegean. He holds a degree in Computer Science Engineering (diplôme d'ingénieur en Génie Informatique) in 1993, a Master (DEA) in Systems Control in 1994 and a PhD in System Reliability in 1997, all from the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC). He has been employed in Framatome, IBM France and EDF (Electricité de France).
In 2005, he created a research group in Reliability and Performance Engineering, and in 2009 he founded the Reliability Engineering Lab., where Faculty members and students are participating in different related research areas.
Finally, the French Government has awarded him Knight of the Order of the Academic Palms in 2006. He has published over 80 research papers in international journals and conference proceedings and has supervised 3 PhD students. His research interests include Information and Communication Systems probabilistic modeling, System Performance Evaluation, Reliability, Availability, Maintenance, Markov modeling, Semi-Markov modeling, Cyclic non-homogeneous Markov modeling and resource availability optimization.
